It is not plugging in a scan tool and reading out a part name. A trouble code tells you which circuit reported a problem, not which component failed. Two vehicles with the same code often need two completely different repairs.
We test. We check what the sensor is actually seeing, whether the wiring feeding it is intact, whether the mechanical thing it is measuring is behaving. Then we tell you what we found.
One customer arrived after being told by other shops that his F-150 needed a new engine — somewhere around five thousand dollars. The actual fault came to six hundred. Another was told by a tire shop that her rotors were bad; they weren't, and we told her so.
Neither of those outcomes came from a discount. They came from testing before quoting.
If you are holding an estimate from another shop or a dealership service department and the number does not match the symptom, bring it in. We will tell you what we find, including when the first shop had it right.

It depends entirely on the fault. Some are found in half an hour; intermittent electrical problems can take longer. We'll tell you what we're seeing as we go rather than leaving you guessing.
