Steady light versus flashing light
A steady light means the computer has recorded a fault worth looking at soon. A flashing light means a misfire severe enough to damage the catalytic converter. If yours is flashing, stop driving it and call us — continuing can turn an inexpensive repair into an expensive one.
Why the free code read at a parts store isn't the answer
A parts counter can hand you a code and, often, the part whose name is in the code description. Sometimes that's right. Often the sensor is reporting accurately about a problem somewhere else — a vacuum leak, a wiring fault, a failing component upstream. Replacing the sensor then leaves you with the same light and a lighter wallet.
What we do instead
We pull the codes and the freeze-frame data, look at live values while the engine runs, and test the circuits and the mechanical systems involved. Then you get a plain-language explanation of what's actually wrong and what it will take to fix.

Can I keep driving with the light on?
If it's steady and the car drives normally, usually for a short while — but the fault won't fix itself and some faults quietly damage other parts. If it's flashing, no.
Will you just clear the code?
Not on its own. Clearing a code without fixing the cause hides the problem and erases the data that helps diagnose it.
The light went off by itself. Is it fine?
Not necessarily. The fault is still stored in memory and we can read it. Intermittent faults are worth catching early.
