Not every hard shift is a clutch. Hydraulic problems, a failing master or slave cylinder, cable adjustment, or a transmission issue can all feel similar from the driver's seat — and they cost very different amounts to fix. Worth knowing which one you have before committing to the big job.
What the job involves
Clutch replacement is labour-heavy: the transmission has to come out. Because of that, it's also the moment to inspect the things that are only reachable now — rear main seal, pilot bearing, flywheel condition, release bearing and hydraulics. We'll tell you what we find and what's worth doing while it's apart, and what isn't.
