Diagnostics

Electrical faults are where guessing gets expensive fastest.

Bring it in if

Any of this sounds familiar.

The car won't start, or starts inconsistently

Battery light or charging warning

Dimming or flickering lights

Something electrical works sometimes

A light or accessory has stopped working

ABS, airbag or other system warning lights

Why electrical work rewards patience

A no-start can be a battery, a cable, a starter, an alternator, a ground, a relay, an ignition switch or a security system. Replacing them in order of price is a way to eventually be right, and an expensive one. Testing narrows it in a fraction of the time.

What we handle

  • Charging systems — alternators and belts
  • Starting systems — starters, batteries, cables and grounds
  • Wiring faults, shorts and corroded connections
  • Lighting, including headlight and bulb replacement
  • Warning light diagnosis — ABS, charging, and others
  • Sensor and circuit testing

One traveling customer needed an alternator that turned out to be under warranty; rather than sell her a new one, Rafa took the old unit to O'Reilly himself to do the exchange.

Questions

Electrical Diagnostics, answered.

My battery is new and it still won't start. What now?

That's a good sign it isn't the battery. Cables, grounds, the starter and the charging system are all worth testing — and testing is cheaper than replacing.

Do you do wiring repairs, or only part replacement?

Both. Repairing a chafed harness is often the correct fix rather than replacing a component that's working fine.

Can you fit accessories or aftermarket electronics?
